It was raining today. It was always because it was raining. And because it was raining today the girl had nowhere to go. And because she had nowhere to go… well, she wouldn’t go into that. In fact, she would much rather just stay here in the Candidate barracks, looking out into the dank corridors of life. Or, in actuality, the corridors where the Headwoman would walk from to get to the barracks and tell all of the candidates that because it was raining today there would be extra chores. Shards knew that the headwoman did that.
Just thinking of confronting that woman made her stomach twist and turn. She screwed up her eyes and set her head on her knees. Her back was resting against the earthen wall of the barrack commons. She was in a corner with the least light, just where she wanted to be: alone. Her blond hair fell away from her neck, where Mura lay sleeping. Squawking indignantly, Mura straightened up and wrapped his tail around her neck. What a weird sight: Mura sitting on her neck right where her hair parted, looking like a second neck. Zenniel didn’t care, though. She was trying to get her feelings under control.
Like that ever happened. And having a shy Bronze didn’t help matters much, either. In fact, she was thinking of making that dratted Bronze go out on his own for a while. But… if he when out on his own… she would be alone. Zenniel didn’t much like being alone in a place with everyone in it. When she was alone in nature, that was when she felt better, but here in the commons? She shivered at the thought, and Mura glanced at His briefly, then uttered a chirp and lay down on her shoulders. This was a very funny situation indeed.
